This Act covers: 1. The definition of film in the Indonesian context 2. The state-owned film organisation which regulates films 3. Censorship 4. Regulation on foreigners who wants to make films in Indonesia 5. Distribution
The filmmakers of Indonesia want to abolish this Act because its contents greatly restrain the artistic interests of the filmmakers due to restrictive social norms. It is also too bureaucratic. Everything you do must be approved by a minister who deals with films.
However, it is important to know the Act, as it is still active, to avoid fines and getting around certain restraints.
